Upgrade from vSphere 5 to vSphere 5.1 – Part 7

To complete upgrade to vSphere 5.1 you need to complete few more steps, depends on design some of the can be skipped.

Recommended:

  1. Upgrading VMware Tools
  2. Upgrade the Virtual Hardware for Virtual Machines
  3. Back Up the vCenter Single Sign On Configuration
  4. Upgrade datastore files system from VMFS3 to VMFS5

Optional:

  1. Install or Upgrade vSphere ESXi Dump Collector
  2. Install or Upgrade vSphere Syslog Collector
  3. Install or Upgrade vSphere Auto Deploy
  4. Install or Upgrade VMware vSphere Authentication Proxy
  5. Back Up the vCenter Single Sign On Configuration
  6. Join a Linked Mode Group After a vCenter Server Upgrade
