  • Drop in an SSD because in this config I/O becames the bottleneck pretty soon 🙂

    • artur_ka

o yea, definitely this lab soon will need more IOPS 🙂

i/o generally or i/o when you have the stores local to each server rather than shared???

  • Charles A. Windom Sr.

Maximum supported memory for the NL40 is 8GB

    • artur_ka

No, HP N40L supports up to 32GB RAM, 2x16GB – tested on my friends HomeLab hardware

      • In some way Charles is right, the “supported RAM” is 8G, I know that those servers work with 2x8GB but didn’t know that they support up to 32GB of RAM.

        • artur_ka

4GB and 2GB are supported too but it is not a max 🙂

I’m using a terastation NFS for the store with a similar two Hp microserver vsphere5 setup and the disk is slow. 4 hours to install windows 2012

    • artur_ka

Looks like 3,5 hours to long, what’s the disk speedrate, interface and RAID number ?

  • Hi Artur, the link refer to a 2x8GB kit. Do you have the 2x16GB kit link that works on N40L ? Thanks!

    • Hi, let me chase my friend who has it.

      • Wayne McAlister

I’d love to know the right memory for this also as I have two untis here waiting for new RAM.

      • Any progress ?

I’ve been attempting to get ESXi 5.5 onto the N40L – but seems to get stuck on loading the lsi_mr3 during installation. If I remove this from the boot.cfg I can get past but the install bombs at some point past 75%

Tired both the VMware image and the HP modded one. Did you have any similar experiences`?
