  • Hot-Pluggable SSD devices – since SSD devices are more and more popular in ESXi deployments in vSphere 5.5 one can change SSD drive while vSphere host is running (same as SATA or SAS hard disk)
  • Support for Reliable Memory Technology – because VMkernel runs directly in memory an error in memory module can potentially crash ESXi server and virtual machines on it. RMT is a CPU build technology which reports from the hardware to vSphere ESXi host which region in memory is “reliable”. New HP G8 servers supports RMT.
