Quick summary:
UKVMUG keynote by VMware EMEA CTO – Joe Baguley – showed an IT transformation from Mainframes, through first versions of ESX into current state and how the IT will look in a near feature. If you wanna know which way to choose in your professional career development path or how IT will look like in a few years time- you must see Joe’s presentation.
I spent some time hanging around sponsors booths focused on storage solutions such as Nutanix (very innovative – virtualization in a BOX, I would say vBOX :-), CORAID etc – Anyway, if you’re on virtualization project where time line between now and go live is tight, it is worth to look closer at Nutanix solution.
The most important, at least for me, were peers networking and sessions. Personally I was invited for VCDX mock defense panel (as a panelist), was very interested discussion on VCDX defense topics between “panelist” (myself, Scoot Lowe) and “candidates”. If you planning go for VCDX certification make sure you included time for mock defense. Apart of mock defense I was at VMware View DeepDive session – very, very informative – looking forward to download presentation – and A Techie’s Guide to Getting the Most Out of IT Support session, good stuff presented by Chris Dearden.
