I just noticed that a month ago VMware released VMware converter 5.1. VMware converter is one of the best free tools which was ever released by VMware. For those who don’t know, VMware converter helps migrate operating system, data and settings from physical server to virtual machine.
What’s new:
- Support for virtual machine hardware version 9
- Guest operating system support for Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012
- Guest operating system support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Support for virtual and physical machine sources with GUID Partition Table (GPT) disks
- Support for virtual and physical machine sources with Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)
- Support for EXT4 file system
[box type=”warning”] The newest version fo VMware converter supports Windows 2003 and newer, so if you have older version of Microsoft OS on physical machine to convert use older version of VMware converter or use third party products such as Novell Platespin or DoubleTake[/box]
how old is this?
