Last week, on July 6’th, Nutanix released a new version of its flagship products, AOS 5.8 and Prism Central 5.8. Acropolis AOS 5.8
Erasure Coding with Block Awareness
Users can enable erasure coding on new containers in block-aware clusters. The minimum number of blocks for RF=2 is 4 and for RF3 is 6.
Nutanix Native Key Management Server for AOS based DAR Encryption
In Acropolis AOS 5.6 Nutanix released software data encryption but key management was out of the AOS (there are several KMS systems certified by Nutanix). In AOS 5.8, you can manage your encryption keys from within Acropolis software
Dual level Data-at-Rest Encryption
You can protect your data using SED drives and software encryption. NOTE: external KMS system is required to enable dual level encryption.
Prism Central 5.8
SAML Authentication Support in Prism Central
The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an open standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties. If you are using OKTA in your org now you can configure Prism Central to use with OKTA for authentication.
Option to Import Images from Registered Clusters
In AOS 5.8 you can choose what images and what clusters you would like to manage from Prism Central image manager.
